Upon my arrival in Liberia from China where I study, was taken to Traveler’s Inn located on the highway Boss Town to be quarantined along with my friends that came with me.
It was really fun being home again after a year and half away from my country. The quarantine seemed long to us but very necessary for the benefit of our country, family and friends. Leaving us to just go out was risky so we listened to the nurses, securities and all protocols that were assigned to take care of us until the 14 days are over.
The people were nice, understanding and encouraging. At first we disliked almost everything here because we were annoyed with them for not allowing us out, but we realized that this was a critical situation and we had to work with them to help make their work easier by preventing the spreading of the virus.
Many of my friends in China discouraged me from coming back home, because some felt the quarantine was not proper and 14 days were too long without seeing our families.
Some of our friends back in China said that they won’t come home because the country lacks facilities we enjoy in China while some are still there with hope that this will soon be over.
There is always an option in life, I decided to come home and stay with my family until things get back to normal while I am still doing my online classes.
My country is my home and I am used to everything here. Sometimes we are afraid of who we are, where we are from and what we have, but the truth is, no matter how scared we are, it won’t change who we are, so stop being scared and accept who you are. This will help us love ourselves and our country.
