The Board is appointed on three year renewable contracts in line with trite corporate governance principles.
However, as of the 4th of October 2018, Air Zimbabwe was placed under a Reconstruction Order which was published in general notice 758/2018 in terms of section 5(2) of the State-Indebted Insolvent Companies Act [Chapter 24:27]. This also resulted in the dissolution of the Board of Directors.
The Act provides for the appointment of an Administrator by the Ministry of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs. Thus, Mr Reggie F. Saruchera of Grant Thornton was appointed as the Administrator of Air Zimbabwe with effect from the 4th of October 2018. This measure was revoked as part of efforts to turnaround and revive the National Airline.
Air Zimbabwe's dynamic leadership team is led by Acting CEO Joseph Makonise. The leadership is strategically set up to promote Air Zimbabwe’s strategic goals, ensuring that the airline grows into a sustainable, world class airline that is able to ensure all downstream economic benefits are realised for the country.
