Methods of prevention seem to be getting more and more extreme some are becoming ridiculous. The latest panic buying is of condoms to put on fingers when pressing elevators to protect themselves against corona virus.
In Australia and Singapore people have been panic-buying packs of condoms, believing they will help protect against corona virus. As the corona virus spreads worldwide, many have been stocking on different items including tissues, sanitisers, and non-perishable foods.
One resident Thanh Thai, from Sydney, shared a picture of empty shelves after a store sold out of Durex contraceptives.
She wrote alongside the picture. "Can anybody please tell me what happened?"
Other social media users explained that the panic-buying is a response to a social media post which encouraged people to use condoms to protect their fingers against the virus. Photos have been going rounds on twitter of people wearing condoms on their fingers pressing elevator buttons.
‘There has been some stupid post telling people to put condoms on their fingers to press buttons etc,’ one user replied.
It has been reported that many Australian shoppers have been stocking up on groceries over fears of food shortages due to the outbreak of the virus. Shop owners have since been taking advantage of the demand hence price hiking.
