She went mountain climbing and as such promoting domestic tourism. Like everyone else, we love to capture moments of our adventures. It was one of these captures that birthed the 'RuvhenekoChallenge'. Ruvheneko's photo with no make-up or filters on captioned RUVHENEKO PARIRENYATWA SHOCKS FANS WITH HER REAL FACE.
After the photo went viral on social media, Ruvheneko had to make a video addressing the issue. On her facebook page she wrote, "What we will not have are men (and some woemn) insinuating that a woman is 'shocking' without make up. I am comfortable with my skin, all times of the day maybe not all times of the month but I am comfortable with or without makeup, with or without studio lights; on top of a mountain or otherwise. Ladies bare it all. Hide nothing. We are every spot, every blemish, every burn, every insecurity. We are SHOCKING inside and out."
Ever since she made the call to flood social media with the hashtag #RuvhenekoChallenge, women have been posting their 'no make-up photos' though with some bit of photo filters. But, who cares. People should feel free to present themselves in any way they feel comfortable with. After all, whatever gives you confidence empowers you. Black women in particular have been subjected to all sorts judgemental remarks from fake hair to skin bleaching. There is wide assumption that women who put on make-up, wear fake hair or bleach their skin have low self-love. What's your opinion?
Ruvheneko went on to reference celebrities like Tyra Banks, Rihanna and many more who have shared their no make-up photos. She went on to say that the world should stop preaching beauty is behind filters and makeup.
Some social media stars like Zuva Habane came in support of Ruvheneko also sharing no make up photos. Captioned HUNNY IT'S ON
I had to join in the #RuvhenekoChallenge as someone who cannot even apply make-up and is stingy to buy hair, this was all me. Nonetherless, none can dictate to me how I should look. I stand with Ruvheneko. Make-up or no make-up, that doesn't change who we are.
