AFRICAN FASHION SHOW INTERNATIONAL
African Fashion Show International (AFSI) is heading to the rooftop with a beautiful view of the famous Baiyun mountains in Guangdong province. The 3-day fashion galore is scheduled for this October 19th-21st in the buzzing city of diversity, Guangzhou, China. The AFSI will be hosted by Black X, DFG and Fanami Fashion. The all glamorous show will feature international creative minds, the likes of Mr. Hu John himself, Leeza Gordon, Fanami, Rowley, and many others.
This is not an event to be missed as it brings African and African inspired designs, styles and prints like you have never seen before. The initiative of showcasing African and African inspired designs in China came from the founder of AFSI, Hu John. The new African designs and other timeless African clothing has played and will always play a vital role in preserving and communicating the deep roots of the African people to the Chinese. Since there is power in identity through fashion, Hu's goal is to continue to open up more conversations about African fashion all across China. Coincidentlly, Hu's idea comes in line with China’s Belt and Road Initiative which also calls for more Chinese people and African people to interact and exchange cultures.
So who is Hu John? The founder and CEO of BLACK X, Hu John, is an event producer who is undeniably the Black king of fashion in China. He has been traveling around the country promoting Black culture on his media platform to tell the black story through fashion. His AFSI have done a tremendous job in connecting buyers, media and the general public with African designers. The AFSI October fashion show will elevate the presence of these emerging brands in Guangzhou and give local artists from DFG (Destined For Greatness), a well-deserved platform to be seen and heard. It is anticipated to exceed expectations as it is an upgrade of November 2017's Shanghai Black Fashion Week, in which Hu John was the Production Director. His efforts afforded the SBFW team the privilege of winning the 2018 Pride of Africa Asia Pacific Award for being event of the year.
Let's bring our attention to the BLACK X community. Carmen Muley, an international Spanish model living in Hangzhou said,”I support AFSI because of its uniqueness. It brings together the best models for the right designers…”.
Chelsea Ward, owner of a CDW consulting company in Shanghai, also had this to say about AFSI.”I support AFSI because its purpose and mission is important. AFSI helps create spaces and avenues for the foreign enterprises to grow and flourish in China.”
Many people have willingly accepted the invitation with open heart to work with Hu John even behind the scenes. Mesmire E. Wilson, a PhD student and a seasoned baker living in Wuhan, spoke highly of this initiative, ”In an environment with so many challenges, these fabulous people continue to come together and work to showcase their products and execute it in style.”
