Beijing was about to be set on fire as the explosive Zimbabwean renowed artists landed at Peking International Airport in China. The show dubbed NZENZA PAYARD was a 3 days 3 cities event, starting from Hangzhou, Wuhan and ending in the beautiful city of the Great Wall that is Beijing.
Brought by VSA International, Salsa Caribe Club in Sanlitun suddenly turned red on the 8th of July as the people flocked in to witness one of the best shows of 2018 so far.A balanced dish was about to be served to a hungry and anticipating crowd.
On the menu were ExQ, Judgement Yard, Dj Stavo and Dj Tamuka. The starters were the local based equally 'hao chi(delicious) artists. Surely VSA International had served Beijing right.
When good things are about to come even nature acknowledges. Having been extremely hot in the past days, this day saw Beijing becoming as cool as the artists performing.
When the highly respected Djs finally got on the decks, the crowd went wild. The international award-winning music producer Dj Stavo and the well sort after producer/musician Dj Tamuka were just unstoppable.
The fusion of old school and current beats just made the whole experience timeless. In the beaming lights and powerful sound system the dance floor was packed as everyone wanted to bring out the dancer in them. Not caring who was doing what on the side, the crowd was simply high.
They were about to go higher when the dread-locked Judgement Yard took the mic, the whole vibe took another twist. The reggea sounds both new and old definitely made the forefathers of the genre turn with pride in their resting places. The rastafarian spirit filled the room as Judgement Yard chanted the signature rastafarian incantation. There is a special way reggea music makes one feel which is explainable only by those who have ever been to that realm.
Just when one thought of taking off their dancing shoes, the 'VANOREVA NHEMA'( meaning those who lie) hitmaker took to the stage and the crowd just burst into sing along. Who wouldn't after all everyone doesn't like liars so the lyrics made sense. Hey, let those who want to talk be, who cares.
Everyone was eargerly waiting for NZENZA (meaning a woman of loose morals) to dropped. All ladies where on hype. Many ladies have been labeled NZENZA many times in their lives. Not because they are of loose morals but because of the judgemental nature of human beings. The song says, "You label her loose or NZENZA simply because she is beautiful, dresses well and she is a go-getter. It's Ok,I love her like that..." ExQ Papi was just on top of his game.
How beautiful it feels to share great moments with those we care about. Music is powerful.
The show was not only for the visitors but also for local based artists. Malone took to the stage with his elegant moves and wowed the crowd. Every artist has his own magical way to please the crowd and Malone is a natural. It's so amazing how different music brings out different feelings but all being feelings of joy.
WAPUNZA and MOYO MUTI became echoes even way after the show. These are hit songs from Beijing based charming Garry. The crowd just couldn't get enough of his performance. His way of engaging the crowd just won him the hearts of many. Surely the present day is going to be a wonderful future. His beat is just one you feel moving around your body. It's amazing.
The sounds just never ran out.One after the other the artists put it all out. How can we miss urban grooves Fila Kila as he is affectionately known. The artist in the TRIAD production is just a force to reckon with in the industry. He is lyrically rich and his loving and playful nature just makes fans draw to him.
The show was graced by beauty and elegance. Not only was the music excellent but the people too.
Music is great for bringing friends together and reconciling lost friends. What a moment of joy to meet under happy moments. Music powerfully influences the emotional ratings of our faces. No wonder everyone was glowing and looking happy. Music creates a sense of community and unity which is exactly what this show proved.
What is an artist without fans who support you. Mingling and being part of the community makes one a true hero.
While everyone else had surrendered and taken off the dancing shoes, there was this one loyal fan who stood till the lights went off. The Last Man Standing Award went to 'China Man'
What a wonderful time brought by VSA International. We certainly hope they bring Beijing alive again soon. All the artists gave a top drawer performance at Salsa Caribe and the audience was just wonderful as no violence was reported exhibiting maturity and the peaceful nature of the people in safeguarding the good name Africa. For a good name is sooner lost than won.
