The Tianjin Binhai New Area Library is situated in the coastal city of Tianjin,China. It is still very new after just being opened on the 1st of October 2017.However,it has already caused a buzz on internet because of it's breathtaking architacture. It is estimated to have a capacity to carry more than 1 milllion books which is a whole lot of knowledge.
Now,how can one lives only 35 minutes train-ride away from this city and not want to claim some bragging rights.Well, this is the city of Tianjin and previously we brought you some other areas.Come as we head to Binhai District of Tianjin by metro rail.
Coming from Beijing it's really easy to get to the library thanks to us having taken an adventure and getting lost along the way.Not too much information about how to get there on the internet except to be told it's in Tianjin.
From Beijing South Railway Station to Tianjin Railway station takes about 35 minutes. Then you transfer into the local metro line 9,with the one way ticket costing 9rmb.The ride will take more than an hour since it's a local train and has many stops. The arrival station is Citizen Plaza/市民广场/shiminguangchang.You then take a taxi from the subway to the library[tu shu guan] a ride of less than 10 minutes.
Arriving at the library you might question the driver if he has taken you to the right place.I did.Simply because I expected to see the big library on arrival. The library is actually inside
.Let's continue.We are here.
On entering the library after my security check,I stood there.I was here.I walked around positioning myself to get some nice pictures of the famous 'eye'.
This big eye is the middle of the library
I was impressed.Everything I had seen on internet was real. The spiraling auditorium with bookshelves from bottom to ceiling.Though for now real books just end as far as we can reach, the place is still world class.
I had to go up to the top to get my feel. This is as far as you can reach in the auditorium.
There are several study rooms including the one below for children.
The library is for reading, right,so this photo father and son soaking themselves in some knowledge is very relevant.
Tired of reading,it's ok,you can walk slowly out of the library and head to the museum.Yes,remember this is a cultural centre and you should expect to see variety.I went into the History and Art Museum.Though I don't know much about art,I really love Chinese history. The figurines below represent Chinese historic men.
By night the city becomes a spectacule of its own.
I came.I saw.I loved it.
